Located in the heart of Tampa, Columbia Restaurant stands as a jewel of Spanish and Cuban culinary heritage, offering a dining experience that transcends a simple meal to become a rich cultural journey. As one of the largest and most renowned Spanish restaurants in the world, this iconic establishment invites guests to indulge in a vibrant menu where traditional flavors blend with masterful preparation.
The cuisine at Columbia is a celebration of Spain and Cuba’s bold, sun-kissed flavors. Signature dishes like the Paella Valenciana and Seafood Paella arrive steaming and fragrant, their golden saffron rice perfectly tender and studded with fresh seafood that melts effortlessly on the tongue. The Pollo Manchego offers a comforting, richly savory bite, tender chicken layered with manchego cheese that sings with every forkful. Don’t miss the quintessential 1905 Salad, a fresh, zesty creation that balances crisp greens with savory cured meats and olives, perfectly awakening the palate.
For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu reads like a love letter to indulgence. The White Chocolate Bread Pudding is luxuriously creamy and decadently sweet, while the Key Lime Pie offers a tangy, refreshing finish that beautifully contrasts the richness of preceding courses. Add the velvety Café Con Leche Flan to your list—a caramel-kissed custard that lingers delightfully on the senses.
Complementing the food is a thoughtfully curated wine list designed to enhance every flavor profile, alongside handcrafted cocktails like the bright and refreshing Mojito Pitcher or the deep, fruity notes of their Red Sangria. Sipping a glass of sangria while savoring Queso Fundido—a bubbling blend of melted cheeses and chorizo—is pure bliss.
The atmosphere at Columbia Restaurant is as multifaceted as its menu. The restaurant’s historic charm is palpable the moment you step through the door, with richly decorated rooms that transport you from old Spain to vibrant Cuba. Each room tells a story through its unique décor, making every visit a visual and sensory adventure. The ambiance pulses with warmth and lively energy, yet retains a relaxed and intimate vibe, perfect for anything from romantic dinners to festive family gatherings.
Service here is nothing short of exceptional. Several guests have praised their servers—like Maria and Laura—for their attentive care, expert recommendations, and engaging storytelling that adds depth and meaning to the dining experience. Whether it’s a quick tour behind the scenes or a detailed explanation of the beloved 1905 Salad and handcrafted sangrias, their team’s passion for hospitality shines through.
Columbia Restaurant isn’t just a place to eat; it’s where flavors, history, and culture blend to create unforgettable memories. As Aref Aasi perfectly summarized, dining here is “not just a meal—it was an experience.” Whether you’re a Tampa local or visiting Florida, Columbia offers an authentic, sensory-rich journey into the heart of Spanish and Cuban cuisine that you’ll long remember and eagerly return to.
Ambiance, food, service were all impeccable. We got the 1905 salad (of course), the scallops, the crab cakes and the red snapper. All of them perfectly cooked, soft and savory. My favorite was the crab cakes, the passion fruit aioli was really special. Ask for Maria! Wonderful service, lots of historical fun facts about the whole place, and she even shared a quick tour with us behind the scenes. The whole staff is welcoming.
The biggest Spanish restaurant in the world, and the food was really good! Cuban sandwich is a MUST! The atmosphere is fantastic, with so many different rooms in the restaurant, all of them full of stereotypes and real decoration from old times in Spain. I loved it! Our waiter was great, but the person in reception not that much, I guess we all have a bad day! Once I am back in Tampa, I will definitely come back :)!
What an amazing dining experience! Our waitress Laura started the night by providing excellent recommendations to make our special night that much more special! We were celebrating my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. The bread that was served was so good and generous! What normally feeds a table, was the size of each person's "side" of bread. For appetizer we had the Shrimp al ajillo. It was garlicky with a hint of pepper! Great to dip your bread into. For dinner, I ordered the special, a Branzino with broccolini (pictured) that was so amazing! For the rest of the table, we had breaded steak, snapped and caldo gallego soup. No one had anything to saw because we were too busy eating and enjoying how well seasoned everything was. It was an explosion of flavors that married so well together. For an incredible finish, I had the white chocolate bread pudding (pictured). It was the best bread pudding I have ever had in my ENTIRE life!! The bread was moist and soft, and did not sit heavy in your stomach, yet it was so filling even when you share!!
Excellent food and service with phenomenal and amazing space and attraction. It is designed perfectly and each section has a different theme which shows the profound qualities. Although we didn’t have any reservations but they seated us quickly. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxing, and we enjoyed everything. In short, this wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience! Highly recommended it!
We’ve beef to Columbia in Sarasota, st Augustine and Tampa many times. It’s our favorite restaurant when visiting Florida. Tonight our waiter in Tampa was amazing. He made our dinner with family an experience we won’t forget. He told us the history of the original restaurant and toured us around the restaurant. He explained the salad making and the sangria while he was preparing it. And of course the dinner was great as usual.
My boss told me I could have the day off if my husband made reservations at Columbia for my birthday and it did not disappoint! I had the 1905s original soup and salad and omg, it was delicious! We also saw the flamingo dancers. Overall, it was fantastic.
While visiting family in the Tampa Bay Area this week, we did our pilgrimage to the 120-year-old original Columbia restaurant in Ybor City, the historic Cuban part of Tampa. Walking through the beautifully tiled and otherwise uniquely decorated rooms of the Columbia restaurant in Tampa's Ybor City sheds light on the rich Cuban heritage of Tampa, Florida. The Columbia restaurant, which is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the USA, also possessing one of the top wine lists in the USA, continues to make excellent Spanish and Cuban cuisine served in an elegant genuine atmosphere of old Florida - Cuba style. There's a full bar and a wine cellar with over 1,000 bottles. We went for lunch to see the painted tiles of the exterior of the restaurant, which takes up an entire city block. In addition to the can't miss "1905 salad" and any one of the delicious entrees, the Columbia serves the lightest and richest flan I've ever had. This week (November 2025) I had a delicious fresh substantially sized paella that had scallops, clams, mussels, prawns, chicken, red peppers and peas, all for only $28.
A True Tampa Treasure! Dining at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City is more than just a meal—it’s an experience deeply rooted in history, flavor, and tradition. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere surrounds you with old-world charm, beautiful Spanish décor, and the unmistakable energy of a place that has served generations. Yarek did a great job!!! The service is exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely proud of the restaurant’s heritage. Every recommendation was spot-on. The food? Outstanding. The 1905 Salad is legendary for a reason—fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. The Cuban sandwich and paella were perfectly prepared, and the fresh bread alone is worth the visit. Combine all that with a refreshing sangria prepared tableside, and you have an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply exploring Ybor, Columbia Restaurant is a must. It is, without question, one of Tampa’s finest and a place I will return to again and again. Highly recommended!
